A sewing guide in 37 illustrated pages

Vampire
Queen

Sew the layered gothic ball gown, with its sweeping train, a slit lined with roses, and lace sleeves that move as you walk.

Every step is explained, from the 7 cm waistband to the last hand-sewn rose. There are no pattern pieces to print: you draw each panel straight onto the fabric with a ruler.

Questions

Before you decide

Is this a printable sewing pattern?

No. It’s a construction guide. The skirt is made from rectangles and simple tapered panels that you draw straight onto the fabric with a ruler and chalk, using the cutting list. There’s nothing to print and tape together.

Will it fit me?

The guide is built around one made-to-measure gown, and it shows how to adapt it. You add or take away length based on your waist-to-floor measurement, size the waistband from your waist, and add panel width if your waist is over 90 cm. Every layer is gathered into the waistband, so the fit is forgiving.

I’ve never sewn before. Can I really do this?

Every term is explained, every technique has a diagram, and there’s a practice session before you start cutting. It’s still a big project with slippery fabrics, though, so plan for 40–55 hours and don’t start the week before your event.

Does it include the corset?

The corset is bought, not sewn. The guide covers choosing the right size, fitting it over the skirt and decorating it with roses and gems.

Is it really free?

Yes. Click the download button and the PDF is yours. There’s no sign-up, no email address needed and no payment.

Which units does it use?

Centimetres and metres only.

Can I share the PDF?

Please share a link to this page rather than the file, so everyone gets the latest version. The guide is for personal use, so please don’t sell it or reuse its photos and diagrams.
